A reading deck for the Acton Branch was included in the original 2009 design for the building. The deck was later removed from the final design due to unexpected costs in 2010. Since the opening of the Acton Branch in 2011, the community, spearheaded by the Friends of the Library, has raised nearly $22,000 of the expected $66,000 cost. The reading deck was approved as part of the 2018 Capital Budget.
