March 8th is International Women's Day (IWD), a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. This day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. Significant activity is witnessed worldwide as groups come together to celebrate women's achievements or rally for women's equality. Recognition of this day helps to forge positive change for all women.

Special events and programs

  • borrowing materials and learning about the women who have paved the way (i.e. women in science, great women in history, trailblazing women, feminism, etc.)
  • wearing purple (the official colour of IWD)
  • taking a selfie in front of the display case in either branch and posting it on social media with the hashtags #ChooseToChallenge and #IWD2021
