As of Tuesday, February 16, Halton Region has moved to fulfill the Provincial Red Zone directions. The Library meets all acceptable controls required for the Red Zone.

 The following services are available:

  • In-library, self-serve holds pick-up
  • Browsing of library collections
  • Study rooms - one person per room at any one time
  • Public computers

We ask that you keep practicing prevention: maintain physical distancing, wear face covering in public, and stay home if unwell. Thank you for your continued patience and understanding.

All visitors and staff entering the library branches are screened.

Screening questions adhere to the direction from Halton Region’s Medical Officer of Health to help determine the likelihood of a person’s exposure to the COVID-19 virus.

The screening protocol is available online and the community is encouraged to complete screening in advance and on the day of attending a municipal facility where they will show the ‘green check mark’ on their mobile device. Facility ambassadors will also help with on-site, in-person screening. The screening program will keep an attendance log for 30 days in the event that contact tracing is required by Halton Public Health. After this period, data is automatically deleted.

As per Halton Region regulations, masks are mandatory at all Town facilities, so we ask that you please wear one in the Library.
Physically distancing
To assist with physical distancing, plexiglass has been installed at all service desks, spacing/distancing markers are throughout the Libraries, and signage has been posted for required spacing in elevators and study rooms. We’ve added additional spacing between furniture and computers.
In-library use of books
Please place all items you’ve read and used while in the Library, in the quarantine bins when you’re done with them. The bins are located on each level of the Georgetown Branch and throughout the Acton Branch. Please do not pick up used books or items from these bins as they will be quarantined at the end of each day. Please do not place previously borrowed items (items that have left the Library and been brought back) in this bin.
Returned library items
Previously borrowed items should be placed in the book return on the outside of our branches. Larger items that do not fit in the book return can be returned to a service desk in branch. All returned items will be quarantined for 72 hours when returned.
Touchless checkout
Checkout and self-serve stations have been upgraded to require as little touch as possible. All stations are cleaned regularly. Completely touchless checkout is available through the MeeScan app.

Maintenance and Library staff regularly disinfect all high-touch surface areas. Hand sanitizer is available for public use when entering and leaving the facility and in the washrooms. Wipes for surfaces are available upon request.
