HHPL Stage 3 Opening

Posted On Thursday July 30, 2020

From the July 27 meeting, The Town of Halton Hills has shared its Stage 3 opening plans with the community. Under the Province’s Stage 3 announcement, municipalities in Halton Region have received permission to move to the next phase of openings.  The Mayor noted the difference between what was allowed and what the municipality was prepared to do.

“Just because the Province is granting us the ability to open more amenities as of last Friday [July 24], this does not mean that we are immediately going to do so,” said Mayor Rick Bonnette. The Mayor’s comments followed a presentation by Director of Recreation Services Samantha Howard detailed various facility and modified program openings, noting the new precautionary measures implemented are to safeguard against the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Geoff Cannon, Chief Librarian of HHPL also spoke about safety measures and changes within the Library.

The Town is taking a thoughtful and strategic approach to opening facilities and offering programs, in order to implement and manage enhanced health and safety protocols. This careful approach helps to ensure the health and safety of everyone within the community.

At all Municipal facilities, Town staff will be doing active screening before residents enter the building.

The Halton Hills Public Library will reopen with limited hours on August 11 (Tuesday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.). Patrons will have the opportunity to browse the collections, use internet workstations, and utilize the study rooms. We ask that all patrons please adhere to all health and safety protocols by wearing a mask/face covering, sanitizing your hands upon entry, being mindful of physical distancing rules, and paying attention to all signage. If you are feeling unwell, please stay home.

LIBRARY RETURNS: We kindly ask that patrons please return all overdue library materials, so that someone else may enjoy them. If larger items do not fit in the dropbox outside of our branches, please return to a service desk in branch.

We look forward to welcoming patrons back and to enjoy the use of the library surroundings once again. Thank you for supporting your local Library!
