Summer Fun Begins at HHPL

It’s summer and your local Library has a wide variety of free, engaging programs and activities, not just for kids but for the entire family! These programs are designed to entertain, excite, and keep kids learning in a fun and educational way.

Throughout July and August, visit either branch of the Halton Hills Public Library to discover, experience and explore these amazing family programs.

Snake Break
Drop by the Acton Branch of the library to meet our special summer guest: a ssssensational, sssslithery snake! Come pet and hold the Library’s visiting Corn Snake or just say hello any time between 2 and 4 p.m. every Wednessssday afternoon. Learn more when you click on HHPL’s online calendar.

Kids Registered Programs
We have a variety of great summer programs to keep your kids reading and learning. Registration is open for our summer STEAM programs: STEAM Team, and Mini STEAM. This summer the Library is offering book clubs for our enthusiastic readers: Club de lecture jr., Chapter Chats and Book Buzz, so don’t miss out. Registration is open. LEGO Days
Stop by the Library and let your creativity soar! Every Sunday throughout the summer HHPL is proud to offer Lego Days! This drop-in program is open for all kids and their caregivers of all ages to play and build with our LEGO. For more information, including times, visit HHPL’s online calendar.

Drag Queen Storytime
Get your free tickets at the John Elliott Theatre and join us Saturday, July 9 from 1-2 p.m. for stories, songs, and lots of laughs as Fay & Fluffy show us how Reading is FUN-damental! Fay & Fluffy's storytime is a wonderful way to celebrate diversity and literacy in a supportive and inclusive environment. All ages are welcome! For more information, visit HHPL’s online calendar. Discovery Days
Drop into the Georgetown Branch on Tuesdays this summer for an exciting day of tech! Library staff will be available from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. to help you explore new and interesting technologies:

Travelling Tales
Join us for outdoor storytime fun! One of our wonderful Storytime-tellers will visit a different park every week for a new and exciting Storytime! Travelling Tales is a wonderful way for families to get out and explore the community while engaging in literacy activities that help prevent the “Summer Slide” and promote a love of learning and literacy! Stop by to log your Summer Reading (as part of our TD Summer Reading Club) or bring your library card with you and borrow on the spot!

Family Storytime

French Programs for Families
Rejoignez Leanne sur YouTube tous les 2e jeudis du mois pour un conte et quelques chansons thématiques. C'est l'heure du conte en français, et c'est virtuel!
Join Leanne on YouTube every 2nd Thursday of the month for thematic storytelling and songs. It's storytime in French, and it's virtual! Visit HHPL’s YouTube page to learn more.

Rejoignez-nous à notre succursale de Georgetown tous les lundis de juillet de 14h30 à 15h30 pour une heure de programmation en français pour les familles avec des enfants de 0 à 6 ans. Ceci est un programme enregistré en partenariat avec On y va Halton. Nous passerons du temps ensemble en familles à chanter des chansons et des comptines, à lire des histoires, et à jouer - le tout en français!

Storywalk® In The Park
Throughout the Summer, HHPL will be bringing Storywalks to different parks in the Halton Hills community. A Storywalk® is a fun, educational activity that allows children to read a story as they walk from sign to sign. It’s designed to build children's interest in reading while encouraging healthy activity for both adults and children. Start at the title page then follow along until you reach the end of the story!

Family Escape Rooms
Sign up as a family and see how you do at Spy School and/or Escape the Castle! Solve a series of codes and clues and see if you have what it takes to become a super spy, or see if you can save the knight and Escape the Castle. Our escape rooms are designed for children and parents to complete together and can accommodate a maximum of 6 players. Please sign up under one (1) person's name for the entire family group.
