The #HCCReads Campaign For Climate Action

Posted On Thursday May 09, 2019

The Halton Climate Collective (HCC) is a group of local organizations focused on educating and transforming Halton into a low-carbon, climate-resilient community. They are doing this by leading a community-wide campaign called #HCCReads and a Book Club that includes the Halton public libraries of Milton, Burlington, Halton Hills, and Oakville.

The selected book for the #HCCReads campaign is Drawdown: The Most Comprehensive Plan Ever Proposed to Reverse Global Warming, by Paul Hawken. Hawken’s book includes 100 carefully vetted technological, social, and ecological solutions taken from various scholars, scientists, entrepreneurs, and advocates who are passionate about the future of our planet and are committed to reducing atmospheric carbon within the next thirty years. These citizens describe a realistic future in which the world achieves “drawdown” (a reduction in the size or presence of something).
