Starting School

Posted On Tuesday July 16, 2019

What an exciting time – your little one is registered for kindergarten, and set to start school in September. Where did the time go? Maybe your child is feeling anxious, or maybe mom and dad are? Well, the Library can help with that!

We have wonderful picture books to share together that will alleviate some of those worries. “Sharing picture books … can be a great way to relate their concerns by showing the experiences of other kids. You can address fears, spark discussion, and make your little one feel more prepared while bonding over a good story” (Missio, 2016).

We’ve compiled a list of some of our favourite “starting school” stories, and all you need is a library card to borrow them. You can find the list here: https://bit.ly/2Jo2aZo

Starting kindergarten is a big step, and the staff at Halton Hills Public Library look forward to being part of that journey.
