Masks Required at HHPL

Posted On Thursday July 16, 2020

On Thursday, July 9, Halton Hills Council passed By-law 2020-0037 which requires the wearing of a mask or face covering in enclosed public places during the COVID-19 pandemic. As such, HHPL is a public place, and masks are required when entering the premises.

This practice aids in stopping the spread of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19). More people are now out and about, frequenting businesses, public spaces and amenities, and thereby creating more opportunities for Covid-19 to be spread. This move helps to aid in the health and safety of everyone in the community. Halton Hills Council followed the example of a number of municipalities that have enacted similar by-laws including Ottawa, Guelph, Brampton, Mississauga, and Toronto.

The wearing of a mask/face covering is intended to accompany other health and safety protocols such as physical distancing and frequent hand washing. Masks/face coverings should ensure the nose, mouth, and chin are securely covered so as to filter respiratory droplets. Masks can be cloth, medical, and/or disposable. Other forms of acceptable face coverings include bandanas and scarves.
