Celebrate Winter Wonder at the Library!

With the holiday season upon us, Halton Hills Public Library invites the community to once again celebrate Winter Wonder! Join us in branch for some well-deserved holiday cheer to help make the season bright and festive.

Take part in fun and creative drop-in programs and events for all ages on these Saturdays:
Acton Branch: December 4 (10 a.m. – 12 p.m).
Georgetown Branch: November 27, December 4, 11 and 18 (1 p.m. – 4 p.m).

Letters to Santa
Drop by either Branch of your local library and pick up a Letters to Santa, Grab & Go Kit. Each kit contains everything you need to write a letter to Santa (including a tasty treat)! When you’re finished your letter, be sure to mail it in Santa’s Mailbox at either location by December 9; no postage required. Address your letter Santa Claus, North Pole, HOH OHO, Canada. Letters may be brought in during regular operating hours. Please remember to include your return address so that Santa can write you back! Family Holiday Storytime and Sing-a-long
Join us in person for a fun, educational and engaging Holiday Storytime or a Holiday Sing-a-long. These activities are for families with young children and adults who love the holiday season! (Proof of double vaccination is required for participants 12+).

Acton Branch (10 a.m.)
December 4 – Holiday Storytime
Georgetown Branch (1:30 p.m.)
December 18 – Holiday Sing-a-long Storytime

Winter Wonder Storywalk™
Join us in branch for two fun and educational Storywalks! We’ve chosen the holiday favourites Snowmen at Night by Caralyn Beuhnerand Sneezy the Snowman by Maureen Wright to delight and engage the entire family. Walk throughout the Library and read the story together and see how it ends!

Winter Wonder Teen Photography Contest
Take part in our Winter Wonder Photography Contest. HHPL will announce themes and teens can submit their photographs. Photographs will be reviewed, and the winning photos will be announced on the library’s social media channels. To learn more and to find out the themes, please visit the Teen Instagram page. Have fun!

Family Holiday Crafts and Activities
Join your local library in branch for fun and creative holiday crafts. Create various paper tree crafts, colour a winter scenes, fashion various 3D holiday crafts, make snowman gift boxes, and more. We provide the materials, fun and space; you create the holiday art!

Holiday S.T.E.A.M. Activities for Families
Engage and delight in family S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) based activities. Using markers, colour and create on our huge Gingerbread House, take part in an Ozobot Scavenger Hunt, join in on a Sphero Snowball Fight, or test your skill with Madlibs word game! Try all the S.T.E.A.M. activities throughout the holidays and show your skills. Enjoy a different activity every Saturday!

Family Photos at The Library
Drop into the Acton Branch on December 4 (11 a.m. to 12 p.m.) or Georgetown Branch on December 4 (1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.) and have a photographer take a holiday family photo! A digital copy of the photo will be sent to you by email.
Additionally, families can take their own family photos in front of our winter backdrops from December 4 to December 23.
