Giving Tuesday (December 3) – The Global Day of Giving

Posted On Tuesday November 26, 2019

GivingTuesday is a global day of giving. After the sales of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, GivingTuesday is a time to celebrate and encourage activities that support charities and non profits. Whether it’s making a donation, volunteering time, helping a neighbour or spreading the word, GivingTuesday is a movement for everyone who wants to give something back. In the same way that retailers take part in Black Friday, the giving community comes together for GivingTuesday.

GivingTuesday gives people the chance to bring about real change in their communities; it provides a platform for them to encourage the donation of time and resources to address local challenges and needs. It also brings together the collective power of a unique blend of partners - nonprofits, civic organizations, businesses and corporations, as well as families and individuals - to encourage and amplify small acts of kindness. Across Canada and around the world, GivingTuesday unites communities by sharing our capacity to care for and empower one another.

At HHPL you can volunteer your time (ask at a service desk), celebrate or recognize a loved one with HHPL’s gift in honour program or consider donating toward enhancements to your library's programs, services and collections. However you give, know you’re giving back and supporting your local community.

For more information about honouring a loved one, enhancing a program or service or simply donating, please visit HHPL’s donation page.

Thank you.
