Due to the global pandemic, March Break was moved to April this year. So, if you’re looking for something to do from April 12 – 17 here is a list of what you can enjoy from your local Library!

Family Recreation Activities
This exciting initiative from your local Recreation and Parks and HHPL, offers residents the opportunity to borrow a variety of fun activities and inspiring games to play with family and friends in your bubble. Activities include Spikeball, Giant Jenga, Disc Bash, Bean Bag Toss, Giant Kerplunk, Parachute, Boom Whackers, Speed Stacking Sets, Pop Up Soccer Sets; plus, a variety of Active Easy Kits that encourage outdoor activity. Home Theatre Collection
Looking for an exciting way to add flare to your home movie nights? Your local library is here to help by offering an exciting, new digital experience with our convenient Home Theatre Collection! Create the perfect atmosphere by choosing from a variety of options which include a hi-res projector, DVD or Blu Ray player, a 40” table-top screen, or portable speakers. Borrow any combination of these items to create the ultimate theatre experience right in your own home. Reserve items online from HHPL’s catalogue today! French Speaker Series
Aimeriez-vous rencontrer des membres de la communauté francophone et les entendre parler d'une expérience de vie intéressante en français? Visitez la page YouTube de la bibliothèque publique de Halton Hills pour rencontrer sept membres de la communauté et découvrir leurs vies fascinantes. Les sujets conviennent aussi bien aux enfants qu'aux adultes et couvrent des sujets tels que des voyages passionnants, une expérience de vie avec l'anxiété et la dépression, et la quête d'une grand-mère pour reconquérir son héritage français. Même quelques didacticiels. Nous espérons que vous les apprécierez autant que nous!

Would you like to meet Francophone community members and hear them talk about an interesting life experience in French? Visit Halton Hills Public Library’s YouTube page to meet seven community members and learn about their fascinating lives. Topics are appropriate for children and adults alike and range from exciting voyages to a lifelong experience with anxiety and depression, to a grandmother’s quest to win-back her French heritage. Even a couple of “how to” videos.

Family Activity Grab & Go Kits
Drop by either branch of the Library to pick up these kits filled with activities and supplies for seven days of fun! Each bag comes complete with a Bingo Card full of fun ideas, activities and challenges to do throughout the week. There are seven coloured squares of separate activities and all materials are included in the Grab& Go bag. Activities are designed to help keep your kids active, learning and entertained during the break. Available while supplies last.

Stuffy Family Storytime
Gather your favourite stuffed animals and join Mary on Facebook, Wednesday, April 14 at 10:30 a.m., as we read a story, sings some songs, and play some bounce rhymes to show our stuffies how much we love them. For information visit HHPL’s online calendar.

French LEGO Challenge – Facebook Monday, April 12 at 1 p.m.
Join Les enfants s'ennuient-ils à la maison pendant leur congé? Regardez cette vidéo défi LEGO pour y découvrir un projet de construction créatif auquel ils peuvent consacrer des heures! Quel défi relèveront-ils aujourd’hui? Teen Murder Mystery Party
The Acton Teen Advisory Council (TAC) is inviting you to a virtual murder mystery party, Thursday, April 15 at 6:30 p.m.! Sherlock and Watson are hosting a dinner party with an intriguing group of guests at their flat, but everything goes terribly wrong when one of the guests is found dead. Battle of the Books
Due to the fact that we can’t get together this year, Halton Hills Public Library has joined forces with Burlington, Milton, and Oakville public libraries to create a special Battle of the Books Reading Program to continue celebrating your love of reading… right in your own home or classroom. Introduction to Cognitive Care Kits
Join us online Thursday, April 15 at 10 a.m. for an introduction to the Library's Cognitive Care Kits for individuals (caregivers and friends) who are supporting the skills and abilities of people living with Dementia. Learn about our collection of fourteen unique kits that contain a variety of prepared games, puzzles, creative activities and books that help exercise the mind, retain skills and encourage social engagement. Genealogy Circle
Whether you are just starting your family history research, or have already compiled an extensive family tree, come and join our Genealogy Circle group on Saturday, April 17 at 10 a.m. We meet monthly to learn about genealogy research and discuss our findings. Find a few great reads to enjoy on the back deck, borrow an audiobook and listen while your walk or hike, play a video or boardgame or binge watch movies! April School Break is all about you, so however your plan to spend it, borrow great resources from your local library. We provide free entertainment for all ages. Bike Welcome Centre
Looking to getting out and ride? Halton Hills Public Library has been designated a bike welcome centre by Ontario By Bike. Our branches offer bike racks, the option to borrow a bike lock to secure your bike while inside the building, a bike repair kit to patch a flat, a pump for a low tire, washrooms, and a water filling station for your reusable bottles. Stop by and use our resources before, during or after your ride!
