Staying In Touch During Physical Distancing

You may have questions; perhaps you have a few. They may be about your library card or PIN, library programs and services, technology and apps, what’s new and noteworthy at HHPL, the millions of resources and items that are available at your digital library, or perhaps you’d just like to chat with us about your favourite books and movies. You may even be curious about what resources and services are currently available throughout the Halton Hills Community during COVID-19. Well, whatever your questions, we have your answers; and if we don’t, we’ll get them for you.

Library Connect Line (LCL)
Our LCL service is the place for answers, and the place to keep in touch. During these times of physical-distancing it’s nice to have a personal connection and know that someone is there to speak to. No matter what your needs, when you sign up for our Library Connect Line service you’ll have access to information about:

  • The best app to use for your needs
  • How to search the digital library
  • Differences between Libby and Hoopla
  • Using technology (phones/tablets/computers)
  • Homework help
  • Logging into an app
  • A PIN and when to use it
  • Attending an HHPL program on Zoom
  • Community resources and services
  • Accessing online databases
  • Catalogue searching
  • Finding books
  • Research tips
  • Family history research
  • A social chat about new resources and info
  • and almost anything else

With Library Connect Line, a friendly staff member will assist you, or touch base with you via phone or email on a weekly or bi-weekly basis, whichever you specify. You can sign up for this service on our Library Connect Line website page.

Book A Librarian (BAL)
This service is personalized to meet a specific need. Whenever you have a technology related request, need information about accessing the digital library, need help searching a catalogue, or something else that requires a longer explanation and assistance, our Book A Librarian service means you will have 30 minutes of uninterrupted time with one of our experts. These one-on-one appointments (over the phone, Zoom, etc.), are meant to assist you, or get you started on any topic. To fill out a Book A Librarian form please visit the HHPL BAL website page.

This service is for quick and easy, questions about almost anything. Patrons often ask about how to pay a fine, where to find a resource, or who to contact about something. Often these questions can be answered through email, text or a quick phone call. If you’re unsure about how to contact HHPL, this is a great place to start.
