Support Your Library

You can ensure that members of Halton Hills community continue to enjoy the Halton Hills Public Library for years to come by establishing a planned gift today. For more information on how to establish a bequest in your will click here.

Four Easy Ways to Make a Financial Donation

1. Donate Online

Use Canada Helps for your online Library Donations Online donations to the Halton Hills Public Library are handled through CanadaHelps.org website. CanadaHelps.org is a non-profit, charitable organization providing secure online donations services to Canadian charities. HHPL will receive your donation; however, your income tax receipt will come from Canada Helps. All transactions are secure and your personal information will remain confidential.


2. Donate at a Branch

Our staff are pleased to accept your donations at either our Acton or Georgetown Branch. For your convenience, print off and fill out one of the following forms before taking your donation into the Branch. If you don’t have access to a printer, our staff would be happy to provide you with the appropriate form.


3. Donate By Mail

If you would prefer to mail your donation, simply print the appropriate form from those listed.

Please enclose your payment with your completed form. Please do not send cash in the mail

4. Donate Materials

Both the Georgetown and Acton Branches accept donations of gently used books and other library materials. In most cases, donated materials will be sold at the Friends of the Halton Hills Public Library kiosks. The money raised from these sales will be used to enhance our collections, programs and services where it is needed most.

For more information on the types of materials we accept, please read our Donated Materials Guide   or contact your local branch.

Unfortunately we are unable to accept the following:

  • Books in poor condition
  • Textbooks
  • Media that is inoperable or in a format that is no longer collected by the Library
  • Condensed books (e.g. Reader’s Digest)
  • Dated information (e.g. old travel guides, etc.)
  • Magazines (including National Geographic)

Friends of the Halton Hills Public Library.

The Friends of the Halton Hills Public Library is a non-profit, volunteer organization which works to Senior Readingpromote the library, advocates for sufficient resources and raising money for enhanced collections, programs and services.

To join, please complete the membership form and drop it off at your local branch.

Some of the greatest gifts of community support are your time and your talents. Our volunteers range in age from 13 to 88 and contribute close to 1000 hours of service every year.

Activities involved can include:young femals volunteer

  • Helping with visits to seniors and people who are unable to visit the library
  • Helping with programs and program preparation in Children’s and Youth Services
  • Organizing library material
  • Keeping the library neat and tidy
  • Entering data for our local history collection
  • Assisting with annual book sales To volunteer, complete the following appropriate application form and submit it to the Circulation desk in either branch. The circulation supervisor would be happy to answer any questions you may have about volunteer opportunities.
