Halton Hills Public Library  officially opened its new and improved 9,000 square foot branch in Acton, Ontario on February 26, 2011 to rave reviews. The building is fully accessible and energy efficient. It maximizes natural light, uses a geothermal system to heat and cool the building, incorporates green construction materials and techniques and conserves water through low flow fixtures. The Acton Branch was recently awarded a Gold Level of certification in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED).

Beyond the improved architectural and design features of the new space, the branch also boasts an ever-growing collection of electronic texts, more Internet stations (two express, three for children and six for teens and adults), more places to study (two study rooms and a community multi-purpose room) and two self-checkout stations for greater convenience.
